Today we connected with Lissa Layman and Jeff- her husband, experts in Visual Literacy. Visual Literacy is using images and such things to communicate thoughts and ideas. We learned about the importance of using visuals and how they can enhance our learning.
We are in a Dual language program and found that many of the things they mentioned were already being applied in our DL Tech classroom. An example is the website Canva. They spoke about using Visual Literacy to communicate with people that do not speak our language. It makes the saying ¨A picture is worth a thousand words¨ valid.
Also, I thought it was very cool to know that they have had to opportunity to travel to over 20 countries. Traveling to this extent is is definitely a goal I have and one of the reasons I know it is important to be bilingual or multilingual.
